Recycling bin (Black bin with blue lid)

Household waste that can be recycled.

The main part of this bin is for recyclables such as:

  • Glass bottles and jars
  • Drinks cans
  • Food tins
  • Aerosols and foil
  • Plastic bottles, pots, tubs and trays
  • Cardboard and cartons

The inner recycling box can recycle paper, such as:

  • Newspapers and magazines
  • Junk mail including leaflets and flyers
  • Catalogues and directories including yellow pages
  • White paper (e.g. printer paper and letters)
  • Envelopes (including ones with windows)
  • Shredded paper

 

Glass bottles and jars

Rinse all food and drink packaging. Labels can be left on.

Cardboard and cartons

Flatten all cardboard packaging, remove plastic inserts, polystyrene and tape.

We are currently also collecting excess cardboard if it is flattened and stacked neatly next to your blue lidded bin on your usual recycling day.

Use the inner caddy of your bin. Remove any plastic wrappings from newspapers, magazines and flyers.
